The New Zealand Cricket Council has issued the following statement in regard to the cablegram from Sydney appearing in yesteroay-s newspapers: "Apparently Mr. Sydney Smith was misunderstood when he was made to say that in view of the hold-up of the M.C.C. team the matches arranged to be played at Auckland and Wanganui would have to be sacrificed. Immediately definite advice is received regarding the team’s departure from Sydney the management committee of the New Zealand Council will go into the question of the programme to be carried out.”
