ROWING.
THE CLIFTON CLUB. ANNUAL MEETING. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The annual meeting of the Clifton flowing Club was held on Friday evening. Mr. A. W. Ogle (president) occupied the chair. The statement of accounts in connection with the hall showed receipts £B6 3s lid, and expenditure £52 15s lid, leaving a credit balance of £33 Bs. The assets amounted to £465 8s and liabilities £ll7 ss. The Rowing Club account showed receipts £37 18s lOd and expenditure £37 18s lOd, with assets amounting to £l9B.
The secretary reported that during the year the trustees had purchased from the old Tikornngi Club their Interest In the ground adjoining the club’s property, which would prove a valuabla asset.
The secretary also reported that the guarantors had been relieved of their liability at the bank, which amounted to £4O 16s sd, and also the balance of the club liability, amounting to £5O, making a total of £9O 16s sd.
The balance-sheet, in connection with the hal] and rowing club was unanimously adopted.
The following new members were elected: — Messrs. E. Beckbessinger, R. Langman, H. Lucas, T. Cooper, L. Bakewell, S. Goddard, C. Arnold, Stewart and J. Telfar
Officers were elected as follow: President, Mr. A. W. Ogle; vice-presidents, Messrs. L. Bakewell. C. H. Johnston, J. Cain, G. R. Croll, W. H. Nosworthy, Dr. Allison; secretary and treasurer, Mr. K. Spurdie; custodian, Mr. H. Spurdie; captain and selector, Mr. T. Caunp* bell; vice-captain, Mr. M. Cain: committee, Messrs. L. Bakewell, D. Read, W. Rogers, W. Spurdie, E. Beckbessinger, D. McGregor, Q. Knuckey: auditor, Mr. A. W. Ogle; selectors for trophies and strokes, Messrs. L. Bakewel., T. Campbell and M. Cain. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Dr. Allison. Mr. G. R. Croll, and Mrs. McPherson for donations. A similar vote was accorded the guarantors. It was decided to introduce trophy rowing during the season, and the president promised to donate a trophy towards that purpose. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr. Spurdie (the secretary) for his past services. It was stated that Mr. Spurdie had now held the office of secretary and treasurer of the club for 35 years.
