PROTESTANTS AND CATHOLICS.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —In regard to "Returned Soldier’s” letter appearing in last Friday’s issue, I am afraid he has missed the mark. The Protestants have nothing against the Catholics. There are aa good men and women among the Catholics as there are among the denominations, and they have a right to worship in what manner they please. What the Protestants say is that there shall be equal rights for all, which at the present is not the case. Tiie Catholics laugh because the Protestants will not stick together, but on the contrary help them return to Parliament the man they want. A Catholic said at Rev. Howard Elliott’s address that the Catholics were giving a block vote for Mr. Masters. No one can blame the Catholics for getting any advantage they can, and until the Protestants wake up and send men to Parliament who will advocate equal rights for all these injustices will continue. However, I fancy someone will get a surprise on the 7th when the Protestants give their solid but silent vote. —I am, etc., REFORMER. Ngaere, November 2fl. (Published by Arrangement.)
