BAND CONTEST.
AN ADJUDICATOR SELECTED. The recommendations from the New Plymouth Band Contest executive for the position of adjudicator at the forthcoming contest were considered at a meeting of the North Island Brass Bands’ Association at Wanganui last week. The successful applicant was Mr. Fred. Haines, L.R.A.M.. R.M.S.M., of Drummoyne, Sydney. Mr. Haines ha® had considerable experience in this class of work at Home. He has previously acted as adjudicator at Bellevue (England), and is a late conductor of H.M. First Life Guards Band, whilst he held the position of conductor of the King’s Ov’n Band (Royal Lancaster Regiment) for ten years. Ip regard to the position of supervisor, Mr. Frank Newell’s appointment ”'p<s confirmed, as was that of Mr- G. Meuli, of Wanganui, as assistant supervisor. The entries for the solo competition', are eoming in exceedingly well, and a large number is already to hand. Others are expected during the next, few days.
