BETTER CONDITIONS SOUGHT. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Dec. 3, 5.5 p.m. London, Dec. 2. Mr. Bonar Law, Sir W. JoynsonHicks, Sir C. A. Montagu Barlow’ (Minister for Labor) and Mr. Brace met the executive of the Miners' Federation at Downing Street. An official statement says Messrs. Smith and Hodges described the hardships arising from low wages, and asked the Government to take ameliorative measures.

Mr. Bonar Law replied that while fully recognising the miners’ hardships, he saw no need for alleviating them by Government aid.

The executive "will assemble again on Wednesday to consider what action shall be taken.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
