REDUCED FARES.
NEW ZEALAND TO ENGLAND. CHANGE AT END OF YEAR. A reduction of from twenty to thirty per cent, in passenger fares between New Zealand and England will be made by overseas shipping companies as from the end of this year, according to in-*, formation gleaned by a Daily News representative yesterday. An idea of what these reductions Will mean is ftt once evident from a comparison of the existing rates and those now contemplated. Where hitherto the firstclass saloon fare ranged from £134 to £174, the new rates to come into effect from about December 26 will range from £llB to £l3B. The second class saloon fare of from £lO9 to £124 will be correspondingly reduced, the proposed rate being from £7B to £B2. These rates apply to the regular mail eteamere, while saloon accommodation on the intermediate class of vessel will be now from £lOO to £ll4 in place of the previous rate of from £ll4 to £134. Fares between New Zealand and Colombo have also been reduced, the first saloon fare being reduced from £B4 to £59, and the second saloon fare from £■6o to £4O.

By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Coipyritht. Sydney, December, I. ‘ The overseas shipping companies have announced substantial reductions in the rates (between Australian and New Zealand ports and Europe. The rates on the mail steamers were: Firstclass, £l3O to £l7O sterling. The new rate will be £ll4 to £164. The old second-claes rates were £lO5 to £l9O, and the new £B6 to £9O.
