FESTIVAL OCCASION.

, FOUR CHOIRS COMBINE. The production of the Messiah on Saturday next at the Coronation Hal! by the choirs of the New Plymouth Choral Society, Male Choir Society, Stratford Musical Society, and the Royal Wellington Choral Union will be a festival occasion of‘ an unprecedented character so far as New Plymouth is concerned. All arrangements for the concert are now complete. The Visitors arrive at Stratford on Friday afternoon and sing in conjunction with representatives of all the societies at the Town Hall at 8 p.m. They will be the guests of the Stratford Musical Society on Friday and Saturday morning, and leave in the afternoon for New Plymouth, arriivng here by the 4 p.m. train. They will be met. by members of the local societies and the hosts with whom they are to stay for the weekend. At night the oratorio will be sung by the full choir of over 250 voices and with' an orchestra of 25 instrumentalists, with a set of leading Dominion soloists, under the direction of Mr. H. Temple White. A public welcome will be tendered to the visitors by the Mayor, prior to the commencement of the concert. At its conclusion the choir will be entertained to supper together to give them the opportunity of meeting the visitors and cultivating a spirit of friendliness betw’een the different societies. On Sunday afternoon the Wellington visitors have been invited to be the guests of Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Burgess to afternoon tea at the “Meeting of the Waters.” Messrs. Sole Bros, have also invited them to visit “Aotea” on the return to town. The visitors leave for Wellington by the mail train on Monday morning. The box plans are now open and filling very quickly. The Stratford plan is at Grubbs and that for the New Plymouth concert at Collier’s.
