New’ Zealand Bteef. —Fores: November 25, 3 3-Bd. Hinds: November 25, 4 5-BcL BUTTER. Market dull. Buyers holding badc nn account of declining prices. New Zealand.—Salted: November 25, 202 s to 208 s per cwt. (Is 9%d, Is 10d, to is per lb.). Unsalted: November 25, 212 s to 218 s per cwt. (Is 10%d to Is HMd per Jt>.). The sn. Port Napier has arrived, and her shipment of butter is in the market. CHEESE. Market Quiet and steady for all descriptions. New Zealand.—November 25: Colored, 124 s to 126 s per cwt. (Is l%d to la l%d per lb.); white, 124 s to 128 s per cwt. (Is l%d to is l%d per lb.). WOOL. Sales continue well attended, with competition brisk. Merino now quoted par to 5 per cent, below October rates. Under the influence of American competition medium crossbred is hardening to 15 per cent., and coarse crossbred 10 per cent, above October prices. CANTERBURY MARKETS. Christchurch, Last Night. The buoyant tone which was evident m business circles last week is being maintained, and merchants are experiencing a busy time for this period of the year. Unfortunately the trade that has grown up with Australia during the last five weeks is being interferea with to some extent by the shipping hold-up, but it Is hoped to send a quantity of stuff iW&y during the next few days by the Walheuno and the Walkouaiti. White and red clover, particularly the former, is very firm at present, London being prepared to take os much as can be supplied. Chaff is Inquired for, but stocks ere low, in fact, there is a temporary shortage. FARMERS’ CO-OP. REPORT. The Farmers’ Co-operative Organisation. Society of New Zealand, Ltd., report for "the week ending Saturday, November 25.: At Opunake on Monday we had a very fair entry of cattle and prices on the whole showed an all-round improvement, except for dairy stock, the quality yarded in this department, however, was not of the best. Fat cows made from £4 to £5, forward bullocks £4 10s to £6 17s, good young forward cows £2 IDs to £8 ss, others £2 5s downwards, 2year Shorthorn heifers £3 Is, Ayrshire cross yearling heifers £2 15s 6d, yearling steers 395, 2-year Jersey bulls 8% to 10 guineas, works bulls £2 to £4 10s, weaner pigs 16s. On Tuesday at Manaia we had a fair yarding, prices were on about a par with late rates. Weaner pigs made 21s to 29s 6d, fat and forward cows £4 to £5 2s, forward young cows £2 10s to £3 ss, forward works cows 35s to £2 10s, bulls £2 to £5, Jersey cross well grown heifers £6 ss, mixed sorts £3 18s 6d, dairy cows to £8 15s. On the same day we had a good yarding at Stratford, fat and forward cows to £4 15s, forward £2 10s to £3 ss, others 30s to £2 4s, Jersey yearling heifers, good to £6 15s, others £2 6a to £3 ss, dairy £lJ 15s, £8 10s, £B, £6. On Wednesday’ at Inglewood the cattla pens were well filled, and practically the whole entry changed hands. 3%-year steers, poor condition £3 Ils, 2-year-old poor sorts £2 10s, young store cows £2 to '£2 ss, works cows 30s to £2, medium Jersey heifers £4 Us, small to £3 15s, best Holsteins £4 10s, small to £2 13s, Shorthorns £B, small £2 ss, bulls for export £2 to £8 10s, dairy heifers up to £B. At Auroa on Friday we had a. good yarding the whole of which was sold under keen competition, prices being fully up to late rates. Fat cows made £4 15s to £5 10s, forward ditto young to £3 ss, good-conditioned works cows £2 to £2 17s 6d, others to 355, sound young bulls £5 5s to £6 ss, works bulls £2 10s to £4 10s, yearling Jersey heifers £5 4s, small ditto £3 7s, dairy cows and heifers £5 to £6,.f° rwaTd ewes 15 s 9d. On the same day we conducted a clearing sale on account of Mr. Jno. Twigg, Tariki Road, Tariki. The cows were In low condition, but met with keen competition, best cows made from £ll to £l5 ss, others £8 10s, aged and done sorts £2 10s to £4. Implements and cans sold at full values.
TARANAKI SALES. Newton King, Ltd., reports:— At Douglas, on Noveunber 20, there was a good yarding of sheep and cattle, and a lull clearance was effected at ..full market rates. Mixed sex hoggets 225, 4-tooth wethers 255, store cow’s £2 10s, £2 16s, £3 ss, empty heifers £2 3s, £3, £4, 3-year steers £3 Bs, springing heifers £5, £6 10s, dairy cows £6 15s. At Stony River, on the 21st inst., we had a full yarding of cattle and report a keenly contested sale. All classes sold at late rates, as the following prices indicate. Store pigs 255, slips 10s, 14s 6d, 15-month heifers 38s, £2 7s 6d, choice Holstein do. £4, Jersey do. £4 15s, store cows 355, £2 13s, 2-year-old Steers £2 2s, £2 6s, 3-year do. £3 Is, dairy heifers £6 10s, £7, springing cows up to £l4 10s. At Waiw&kaiho, on November 23, a fair yarding was moderately attended. Most of •the offering sold, prices showing little variation compared with late sales. 15-monrn steers 28s, £2, fat cows £5 2s 6d, store do. 30s, £2 10s, 15-month heifers £3 ss, £3 13s fid, Jersey do. £6 10s, £6 12s 6d, 2-year-old heifers r.w.b. £5 4s 6d, springing cow £9 10s, heifers in profit £B, £9.
