MAGISTRATE'S COURT. (From Our Own Correspondent). November 28. A sitting of the Court was held at Eltham to-day before Mr. A. M. Mowlera, S.M. Reserved judgment was delivered in the case in which the New Zealand Meat Packing and Bacon Curing Company clainid £199 17s 9d from C. L. Wilson for damages alleged to have been occasioned by defendants negligent repairing of a motor lorry. The judgment held that negligence with respect to the repair of the oiling system of the lorry had not been proved, but negligence had been proved with respect to the repair of the crank case and the main bearings. Judgment wa-i given for the plaintiff company for £7O Ss 6d, with costs amounting to £2O 4s. Dennis Brew applied for a variation of a maintenance order of £2 per week in respect of his wife, Margaret Brew. A irwlucri'n of the order to £1 per -week was made, but no order was made in respect' - rears of over £2OO. James Brrv. pleaded guilty to a charge of disobeying a maintenance order in favor of his mother, Margaret Brew. Defendant was sentenced to three days’ imprisonment with hard ulbor, th< warrant to be suspended so
long as current maintenance of 4s per week and all arrears were paid before December “24.
