ACTRESS TAKES TO DRUGS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, November 19. Mrs. Cissie Loftus, the well-known actress, has been charged with being in illegal possession of drugs. Counsel unfolded a pathetic story of domestic unhappiness. She had jbeen compelled to divorce two husbands, and she had worked hard for. five years to pay her first husband’s debts. She had undergone four serious operations, after which drugs were administered to afford relief from the agony, resulting in her becoming addicted to drugs' The Magistrate ordered. Mrs.- Loftus to 'be placed on probation, the prosecuting counsel stating that he did not' desire to press the case unduly.
