THE WAITOMO SEAT. MR. ROLLESTON’S CAMPAIGN. (Contributed.) Mr. J. C. Rolleston continues to meet with ever-increasing enthusiasm and success throughout the Ohura district. At a largely attended meeting at Matiere, where Mr. Chas, Stewart acted as chairman, over thirty minutes were devoted to questions, all of which the candidate answered with his usual directness and force. The meeting addressed by Mr. Rolleston at Ohura is considered by settlers to be the largest ever held at Ohura. Mr. J. L. Robinson was chairman. At the conclusion a vote of thanks and confidence was carried amidst extraordinary enthusiasm. THE EGMONT MR. ASTBURY. (Contributed.) Mr. Astbury addressed the electors in the Mangahume school on Monday, a fair number of electors being present. Mr. Robinson was voted to the chair. At the close of an interesting address a vote of thanks and confidence was passed unanimously in Mr. Astbury as a fitting member to represent them. Oeo has been visited by one of the candidates for Egmont, Mr. Astbury speaking in the hall to a small gathering. More would have been present, but a number of residents visited Otakeho to be present at a dance in aid of school funds. Mr. Rushin was voted to the chair, and briefly introduced the speaker. Mr. Astbury spoke for an hour and a half, and at the close of the meeting answered a number of questions, .the meeting closing at 11 p.m. after a. vote of thanks. MR. HAWKEN. (Contributed.) At Auroa, on Tuesday night, Mr. Hawken addressed a meeting of about 150 electors, Mr. C. Johnston presiding. Mr. Hawken spoke for about an hour and a half on the political topics of the day, and at the close of his address answered a number of questions. Mr. R. Dunn, in moving a vote of thanks to and confidence in Mr. Hawken, spoke of the good work he had done on Dehalf of the district. Mr. Hawken had always been at his post attending to the ‘wants and requirements of his electorate, and was a man who had the confidence and respect of his fellow members to a marked degree. The motion was seconded by Mr. H. Buckstonp. Mr. D. Bashford moved, as an amendment, a vote of thanks only, and this was seconded by Mr. Scott. On a show of hands the amendment was defeated and the motion carried by an overwhelming majority. A large number of electors remained after the meeting to form a committee in support of Mr. Hawken’s candidature.
