MacLaren’s English team and Victoria was continued to-day. wien the weather wue> glorious and the wicket good. There was tain overnight, but the wicket was protected. The attendance was fifteen thousand. When stumps were drawn on Friday England had made 210 in their first innings, while Victoria had 44 runs on for the loss of five wickets. On Victoria resuming to-day runs came at «, good pace, fifty being made in forty-three minutes. Hartkopf gave a fine exhibition, and hit nine fours. Woodfull was cautious. Tyldesley kept runs down. Hartkopf gave a sharp chance to MacLaren in the slips when 56. The Woodfull-Hartkopf partnership added 144. Woodfull was brilliantly run out by Chapman after batting a hun- * dred and sixty-five minutes. He hit three fours. Ransford was smartly caught in the slips. The fielding generally was of a high standard, while the bowling was never loose and showed good variety. Tyldesley, although he did not bowl much, was impressiwe.
