President Harding has ordered two warship® to proceed immediately to the Chilean coast with naval supplies for relief purposes. They will carry rations to feed 3000 persons for ten days and clothing for the flame number. New York, Nov. 16. Santiago de Chili reports fresh earthquake shocks in the Copiapo and La Serena district®, but no loss of life. EFFECTS IN NEW ZEALAND. By Telegraph.—Press Assoc: ation. Wellington, Nov. 17. With reference to the report of a high tide at Timaru, Dr. Adams states that there were indications of interesting movements at Wellington, but owing tc the position of the harbors, the effects were less likely here than on a more exposed coast. The whole matter is being gone into systematically. Tidal waves as previously observed travelled across the ocean at about 400 miles an hour, so that the wave should have reached New Zealand from Chile within 12 hours.
