Consular reports from Chile indicate that twelve hundred miles of the coast felt the effects of the tidal wave in varying degrees. The ocean is still continuing to ebb and flow back in huge waves. Strange lights flicker over the waters, frightening people who are taking refuge in the hills. An area of 140 miles by 100 miles is denuded of houses. At Vallen-ar the dead now total fifteen hundred, indicating that the total dead through the disaster may reach five thousand, while ten thousand are injured. Railway tracks in the afflicted region were destroyed. The rads show yearning craters, making the transportation of food -supplies possible only on muleback. Food is in great need. The President, Senor Allcsandri, with the Cabinet, he* departed on board a battleship to visit the region. A message from President Harding offers American Red Cross aid if needed.

Advices from Santiago state that renewed earthquake shock’s were felt at •La Serena. The total damage is unknown. It is now estimated that the total deaths from the earthquake number 26(10. Bodies were recovered from the ruins of the city of Vallenar. They were carried to the public square, and, after identification, burned. EGYPT FEELS SHOCK. Cairo, November 14. The Chilian earthquake was recorded in Egypt. The seismograph at Helocan ■observatory indicated an extremely severe disturbance. RECORDED IN NEW ZEALAND. By Telegraph.—Tress Association. Wellington, November 14. The Chile earthquake has 'been recorded by the Wellington .seismograph. The disturbance began locally at 4.16 p.m. on Saturday. Mr. Adams states that the record is magnificent, and one of the best taken here.
