FLOUR COMING.

BOAT WITH SOUTHERN CARGO. EXPECTED HERE TO-DAY. Welcome relief to merchants and retailers in Taranaki will be provided today by the arrival of the Union Company’s steamer Kahika, with 600 tons of general cargo, from southern ports, including a quantity of flour, supplies of which have been rather short in New Plymouth s-ince the shipping hold-up. She also carries the usual lines of produce and a quantity of tobacco.

The Kahika has been detained in Wellington for the past four or five days. She has been ready to sail for this port, 'but the trouble with the seamen caused delay. The New Plymouth office of the Union S.S. Co. were advised that t'hje Kahika would sail yesterday, the vessel being eventually despatched at 5 p.m., whether with a scratch crew or her ordinary complement is not known, The vessel is expected about 1 p.m. today. On her next trip south, the vessel will proceed only as far as Lyttelton. Thus her return to this port with further supplies will be accelerated. It is expected that the Corinna, now detained at Dunedin, will be enabled tn sail early with additional general cargo. A Press Association message from Wellington says the Kahika was manned by free labor, and sailed at 5.15 p.m. with passengers and cargo.
