GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL CHARGED. By ■rc.lcgrapll.—Press Association. Hamilton, Nov. 11. At the .Magistrates Court Henry Thomas Smith, formerly eonstab e and clerk of the court at Kawhi.a, was ehm gcil with theft of Government moneys totailin'. £249 and certain articles. Evidence was given that certain moneys paid to Smith had not been accounted for, and that tlie aitiees ported stolen were afterwards found on Smith’s farm. Smith pleaded not guilty and was committed for trial at the Supreme Court, Hamilton. Bail was allowed, himeelf in £3OO and two sureties ot each.
