TOWN CLERK’S THEFTS.

ATTEMPT TO COMMIT SUICIDE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Nov. 9. In the Police Court, William Frederick Fryer Raisher, ex-town clerk of Helensville, was committed for sentence on sever counts of embezzlement, having fraudulently omitted to account for the sums ol £2B 12s 6d, £3l 2s Bd, £3 17s, £382 10s, £553 6s 6d, £229 12s 9d, and £l2l 2s 4d. The evidence showed that the total deficiencies in accused’s accounts totalled £1259 9s 3d. Raisher was convicted and ordered to pay costs on a charge of attempting to commit suicide.
