MEAT BOARD
REPRESENTATIVE IN ENGLAND. MR. JESSOP RETURNING. An important announcement in connection with the representative on the New Zealand Meat Export Board in England was made by the Prime Minister (Mr. W. F. Massey) in the course of his speech at New Plymouth last night. At the .present time Mr. Jessop (chairman of the board) is in England and, Mr. Maesey stated, was doing very good work in connection with the marketing of meat in England, while lie had been successful in arranging a reduction in freight with the shipping companies. Mr. Jessop was returning to New Zealand shortly, and a gentleman who had been at the head of the Imperial Supplies Department during the war, and who had had a great deal of practical experience, was going Home shortly to take Mr. Jessop’s place. Though Mr. Massey did not mention the gentleman’s name it is presumed he referred to Mr. T. R. Lees, who was for some time in charge of the department mentioned and is at present secretary to the meat board.
