THE LIBERAL PARTY. CHIEF PLANKS OF PLATFORM. Received Nov. 7, 8.5 p.m. London, Nov. 6. The election manifesto issued by Mr. H. H. Asquith (Leader of the Liberal Party) advocates peace and disarmament, to be secured through the League of Nations; a prompt revision of the settlement regarding reparations and inter-Allied debts; drastic economy; abandonment of military adventures abroad; fulfilment by community of responsibility for securing workers against unemployment; unqualified free trade; defence of essential services; education, housing and health; political and legal equality for men and women; taxation and rating on land values; democratic reform of the licensing system; and the introduction of proportional representation. The revised list of nominations’ in England, Scotland, and Wales shows a total of 1426, of which 474 are Conservatives, 182 National Liberals, 336 Liberals, 414 Labour, and 20 various.
