Asquith (Leader of the Liberal Party) advocates peace and disarmament, to be secured through the League of Nations; a prompt revision of the settlement regarding reparations and inter-Allied debts; drastic economy; abandonment of military adventures abroad; fulfilment by community of responsibility for securing workers against unemployment; unqualified free trade; defence of essential services; education, housing and health; political and legal equality for men and women; taxation and rating on land values; democratic reform of the licensing system; and the introduction of proportional representation.
