BUTTER AND CHEESE. The following cable was received on Saturday morning by Messrs. Newton King, Ltd., from their London agents, Messrs. R. W. Davidson, Ltd.: "Butter market firm, 208 s to 210 s; cheese market excited, white and colored 1205." N.Z. LOAN REPORT. Tho New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd. (Hawera branch) report : At Palmer Road on the 3rd instant we had a medium yarding of cattle. Store cattle sold on a par with recent sales. Tho bulk of the dairy cattle were backward, consequently these were hard to quit. We quote: Good forward cows £4 5s to £4 17s 6d, goon conditioned cows £2 10s to £3 10s, stores £1 to £2. springing heifers (medium) £6 to £B, cows (inferior) £3 10s to £5 15s. INGLEWOOD SALE. A good yarding and full attendance at Newton King, Ltd.’s sale on Wednesday heralded a sale where very few of the lots offered failed to find buyers. The tone of the market was, in fact, distinctly encouraging. Yearling to 15-month heifers made from 47s to 565, steers of the same age from 31s to 42s fid; 2-ycar-old empty heifers, .medium quality, sold from £3 3s to £3 15s fid. better class 95s to 1355; store cows 21s to 435; forward empty cows’ 55s to 655; fat cows 102 s: bulls from 31s to 80s; springing heifers, inferior, £3 10s to £7 ss; better quality £8 5s to £l3; springing cows from £4 10s to £6 for questionable quality, but for better lines from £9 to £l4. Not many sheep were yarded; those offered made 21s 9d for mixed shorn hoggets, the same price, viz. 21s 9d, fdr forward. stores mixed, and 25s for fats.
