LONDON-FIJI SERVICE.

NEW T LINE OPERATING. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Nov. 4. The Star’s Fiji -correspondent writes that the Commonwealth Government Line have foolishly given up the direct service between Fiji and London, be-' cause the Fiji Government was unable to continue the subsidy. The Government has entered into an agreement with McDonald. Hamilton and Co., agents for the New Zealand Shipping Company, to run a steamer every 7 three months from London to Fiji. The freight rates are similar to those between London and Sydney. The Government guarantees the line all its transport and has secured the support of the mercantile community.
