LAWN TENNIS.

OPENING OF THE SEASON. The 1922-23 lawn tennis season in • New Plymouth was opened on Saturday, and although there was a slight shower during the morning the weather lield off, and some good, games were played during the afternoon on the Park and New Plymouth Clubs’ courts. Dr. Home officially opened the Now Plymouth Club's lawns, which were in very good order. There was a good muster of members and visitors, and a progressive tournament was played, Miss Griffin winning the ladies’ games and F. Newall the men’s. No fixed programme was arranged by the Park Club, an enjoyable afternoon being pawed
