PROSECUTION FAILS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, November 3. Mr. Justice Chapman allowed the appeal of the Central Co-operative Company against a conviction for selling short-weight butter. The Judge thought the regulations contemplated that in the case of goods like butter the weighing of all packages should be as nearly as possible contemporaneous, and weighed on the same scale. He held the case not proved. A similar appeal by the Taitapu Company was also allowed. SUNDAY PICTURES. Greymouth. November 3. Reserved decision was given to-day by Mr. Justice Adams in an appeal recently heard in the Supreme Court against the magisterial convictions of a picture operator and a number of the audience, charged with aiding and abetting in connection with Sunday pictures. His Honour upheld the convictions, and the appeal was dismissed with costs. Read “Pussyfoot” on Rev. Wyndham Heathcote, page 12.
