GOLD IN UREWERA.
INDICATIONS OF REEF. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wairoa, Nov. 3. A well-known Wairoa Native has secured specimens of quartz alleged to have been taken from a reef in the Urewera country, seventeen miles from Ruatahuna. It is a reef of considerable extent, and has been traced for over a mile. The quartz is similar to that found at the Thames, being dark grey in color. Specimens have been sent to the Government Mines Department, the Thames School of Mines, the manager of the Waihi gold mines, and other well known mining experts.
