TIRED OF GIVING.

PUBLIC AND UNEMPLOYED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. The North Canterbury Unemployment Committee has abandoned its activities. At the final meeting of the committee to-day, the secretary stated the position was similar to that obtaining last week, the number of men out of employment being approximately 260, and there was cash in hand amounting to £3O. "We are only beating the air if we come here without doing anything, and we can’t do anything if the public will not come forward with funds,” said the chairman (Mr. Black). He said the people were becoming tired of giving, for there were so many objects to give to. It was agreed the committee could do no more, as it had exhausted every means in its power of raising money.
