TECHNICAL COLLEGE.

THE ANNUAL STEEPLECHASE. NEW RECORD MADE. The annual steeplechase of the New Plymouth Technical College was run yesterday afternoon under fair weather conditions. The course was the same as for last year. Commencing at the school, It led through Pukekurft Park to Brooklands Road, along that road and on to Avenue Road. From there the course led back through the racecourse, and then across the racecourse and down through the Recreation Grounds to the school. The distance Is approximately three and a quarter miles. Last year’s fastest time of 19min. 46sec. by O’Byrne was this year reduced by the sa<me runner to 19min. lOsec.—a very fine performance. The detailed results are as follows: R. Pcrrott. 4%min.. 1; N. Milne, smin., 2; J. Dickson, 2%min., 3. The fastest time for handicap runners was made by F. Carter (20mln. 46sec.). with J. Dickson and A. Boswell second equal (20min. 50sec.). Tho senior championship results were: — W. O’Byrne 1., Timo, 19mln. lOsec. Junior Championship.—C. Aroa. 22min. 29 sec., 1 ; F. Krutz, 22mln. 30sec„ 2: R. Coles, 22imin. 52sec., 3. This race provided a very close finish between Aroa and Krutz for first place. The final results for the sports championship are now ns follows: Senior Championship.—A. Dickson 19 points, K. Elgar 18 points. W. O’Byrne 12 points. Junior Championship.—J. Lile points, 0. Aroa 13 points, W. Dickson 8 points. Handicap Events.—A. Lobb 13% points, J. Southcombe 12% points. W. Wilson 10 points.
