EVERYBODY’S. LAST NIGHT OF “POLLY OF THE FOLLIES.” Constance Talmadge points a moral in a delightfully humorous vein to all stagestruck girls in her latest First National attraction “Polly of the Follies.” showing finally at Everybody’s to-night. The star takes a laughable dig at the tendency to throw up everything for the glamor of the footligilits and shows by her own experience in this story that there’s something to home after all. Polly Meacham, thb girl portrayed by Miss Talmadge, has her aspirations and in -pursuit of them she runs the whole gauntlet of the show gam? including an encounter with thb redoubtable Flo Ziegfeld. The picture is remarkable for its scenes of a Follies’ Beauty Chorus in rehearsal and for the opening night of the big show. While the opening is an undoubted success, Polly’s venture is of more questionable promise. The immature girl from Bowling Green, Conn., has reasonable second thoughts on the first night, with the result that the story comes to a conclusion that is delightfully surprising and original. The fourth round of “The Leather Pushers” also shows on the programme and it is easily the best of the series to .date.
THE PEOPLE’S. “THE GOLDEN GALLOWS” TONIGHT. The feature attraction at the People’s 'to-night is the Universal production “The Golden Gallows” with Miss Du Pont as the star. “The Golden Gallows” is the story of a girl who inherited vast wealth from a man who had been no relation to her, only a casual friend. The unique angle in the inheritance caught the fancy of the gossiping public and they make the most of the opportunity. But a chorus queen can live through gossip easily; in fact, accompanied by newspaper publicity she really thrives on scandal. Th “The Golden Gallows” you go behind the scenes with the most beautiful girl in motion pictures: you learn the life as it is lived there, and find with her the intensely human side of the actor folk of the New York stage. The supporting films include a two-reel Century comedy “Cheerful Credit’ with the world’s wonder dog Brownie. Prices of admission are advertised as usual.
