NOVEMBER EXAMS.

NEW PLYMOUTH CENTRE. LAW SUBJECTS POPULAR. With the end of the University year have once more come the annual examinations, conducted by the University of New Zealand, for degrees, professional subjects, etc. The examinations commenced at the various centres throughout the Dominion yesterday. At New Plymouth 69 candidates are presenting themselves in the various examinations. A striking feature is the number of candidates sitting in law and accountancy subjects, these greatly overshadowing the other classes. It is mostly in the. professional examinations that the students are interested, though it is distinctly pleasing to see (that at New Plymouth, which is far removed from a university centre, that there are nine candidates sitting for various sections of the Bachelor of Laws degree, while nineteen others are sitting for the law professional examination. One candidate is sitting for the Bachelor of Commerce degree, while fourteen are entered for the accountancy professional examination; ten are sitting in the section for book-keeping, accounts, etc., and six for banking. For certificates of proficiency in various university subjects there, are six candidates. The arts course, evidently not so popular as its sturdier brethren of the law and accountancy, has attracted two candidates are sitting for their first section, and two others who have completed this portion of the examination and are now attacking the second section. The Rev. 0. Blundell is supervising the examinations, which, so far as this centre is concerned, will continue till November 14. On December 5 the Matriculation, University Scholarship and allied examinations commence.
