THE LAST DAY.
OLD PARLIAMENT ENDS. (By Wire —Parliamentary Reporter.) Wellington, Last Night. Parliament had very little work to do to-day, but it managed to occupy itself into the evening. The Prime Minister always has a certain amount of difficulty in arranging meetings of the Chambers on the last day of a session so that the House and Council may reach an end of their labors without leaving any loose ends of legislation. l ,v inal adjustments have to be made concerning disputed clauses; the House has to pass an Appropriation Bill, receive it back -from the Legislative Council, send it to the Governor-General, and learn formally that he has sanctioned it. Then Ministers and members can say goodbye to one another with that alacrity born of a session’® association. They did reach that stage until quite late this evening.
