FITZROY AFFAIRS.
MEETING OF ASSOCIATION. The quarterly meeting of the Fitzroy Ratepayers’ Association was held on Friday night, the president (Mr. K. Parkin) being in the chair. Appreciation was expressed at the Borough Council’s action in levelling the section at the intersection of Devon Street and Alangorei Road, and also at the good work being done between Alangorei Road and the old railway bridge. A lengthy discussion took place in connection with the proposal to erect a bathing shed for the men somewhere in the vicinity of thv one erected for the ladies. It was resolved to defer action until definite information from the Harbor Board respecting the reserves comes to hand, and as soon as this is received to call a meeting of the residents. to see what support is forthcoming to the proposal to erect a shed in some permanent material. Correspondence was read from the chief postmaster intimating that arrangements had been made to change the time of closing the local post office at dinner time from 1 to 2 instead of from 12 to 1, as formerly, and also that the matter of installing a slot telephone in the vicinity of the stores was in the hands of the* engineer. It was decided to thank the members of the Battalion Band for the excellent programme of music submitted at the recent concert in the school grounds. The matter of erecting cubicles in the ladies’ bathing shed was left in the hands of Mr. A. L. Roberts.
