FRACAS ON SHIP.
GAOL FOR ASSAILANTS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Oct. 28 There was a fracas on the steatnei Otaki at the Queen’s Wharf last night Injuries were sustained by the chief officer, H. Williams, and the second steward. Alfred Morden. The former had his noe« fractured bv a blow, which also caused concu-wion. ‘ Two members of the crew have been arrested in connection wit! the affray. As a sequel to the fracas on the steamer Otaki, at the Police Court, Joseph Sutton, aged 17, was charged with assault on the chief officer. He was sentenced to one month’s gaol and to be placed aboard the Otaki before the vessel leaves New Zealand. Michael Gallagher was charged with as&ault on Cyril Moffat, and was similarly sentenced. Walter Percival Batten, aged 26, waa charged with causing actual bodily harm to J. Albert Morton, second steward. The charge was reduced to one of common assault. He also was ordered a month’s gaol and his subsequent : eturn to the vessel.
