SESSION ENDING.
THE FINAL BUSINESS. MR. WILFORD’S POLICY. (By Wire.—Parliamentary Reporter.)) Wellington, Last Night. Mr. Wilford states that he will announce the policy of the Liberal-Labor Party on Tuesday, if the session is ended by that time; otherwise he will postpone the announcement until later in the week.
Members are expecting to complete the session on Monday or Tuesday, now that the dairy pool Bill is out of the way. There is not much to be done. One or two Bills are awaiting their final stages, but an Appropriation Bill and the Supplementary Estimates are the chief business ahead.
Mr. Massey has not made a definite announcement of the election date, but there is no doubt the election will be on Thursday, December 7.
REMAINING BUSINESS.
PREMIER OUTLINES WORK. (By Wire. —Parliamentary Reporter.) Wellington, Oct. 28. The Prime Minister made a brief statement in the House this afternoon concerning the remaining work of the session. He said that there were two Bills relating to Maoris—the Native Trustee Amendment Bill and the Native “Washing-Up” Bill. There would be a resolution relating to the South African tariff treaty, and a Bill giving the franchise to residents of the Chatham Islands. Another Bill of one clause would relate to the chattels transfer law, and was intended to adjust a difficulty that had arisen recently in the Waikato and elsewhere.
The Scaffolding Amendment Bill, the Finance Bill, the Friendly Societies’ Bill, the Rural Credit Associations Bill, and the “Washing-Up” Bill were to proceed. The Consolidating Companies Bill and a smaller Bill relating to profit-sharing would not proceed this session, and the people concerned were being given time to consider them.
