W.C.T.U.

A meeting of the New Plymouth branch of the W.C.T.U. was held in the Whiteley bible classroom on Wednesday afternoon, the president (Mrs. Griffen) in the chair. Several new members were welcomed. During the month Dr. Mary Armor had visited New Plymouth and lectured on “The Success of Prohibition in America/’ A reception to ner was held at the Victoria League rooms, when a number of the W.C.T.U. members and others availed themselves of the opportunity of meeting this gifted lecturer. A pay-up social has been arranged for November 8. It was decided to postpone the cradle doll and L.T.L. social from October 28 to November 4. The sum of £l4 has been collected ih various ways, and will be sent to the Mary Armor fund. On Franchise Day a social was held, and a very pleasant time spent. Afternoon tea was partaken of and Mrs. Coleman and Miss Campbell sang, their items being much appreciated.
