OLD BOYS.
ASSOCIATION’S ANNUAL REPORT. The sixth annual report of the New Plymouth High School Old Boys’ Association, to be presented at the annual meeting to-morrow night, states: “The work of the association during the year has mainly centred round two objects, the completion of the memorial to old boys who fell in the Great War and the raising of funds for the erection of a gymnasium at the school. The former object has now been reached, the gates are completed and the unveiling ceremony will take place within the next few weeks. The gates /are a great addition to the school and a fitting memorial to those old boys who gave their lives at the Great War. The tender for the work of erecting the memorial was lower than was expected, the work being given to Boon Bros., Limited, at the tender of £642. The association has been in communication with the Governor-General, and it is hoped that he will unveil the gates during his visit to New Plymouth next month or early in December. The matter of raising‘funds for the erection of a gymnasium has been mainly centred round a gala day, which was held on October 21, 1922. All sums raised for this purpose are subject to a subsidy from the Education Department of £ for £. The thanks of the association are due to the ladies’ committee for the very good work they rendered m this connection.
