The principal items (with the 1921 figures in parentheses) are: Customs, £1,408,286 (£1,433,622); stamp and death duties, £751,008 (£682,555); post and telegraoh, £684,880 (£643,325); income tax, £67,869 (£96,363); beer duty, £126,479 (£76,166); railways, £1,498,859 (£1,613,468).
The principal items are: Interest, and sinking fund, £1,315,631 (£1,114,429); war pensions, £411,007 (£490,928); railways, £1,227,039 (£1,496,877); post and telegraph, £678,955 (£644,913); education, £572,987 (£631,823). For the half year the receipts and expenditure, excluding balances, compare as follow:
