ACCIDENT AT A CREAMERY.

DEATH OF MR. G. E. O’CARROLL. An inquest into the circumstances of tne death of Gerald Eustace O’Carroll, who succumbed to injuries received in an accident at the Stanley Road creamery on Friday last, was held at Stratford on Tuesday afternoon, before Mr. J. M'Cluggage, J.P., acting-coroner, and a jury of four, of which Mr. W. H. Robinson was the foreman. The evidence showed that, the deceased had attempted to adjust a belt and put it back on the pulley on the overhead shafting while the machinery was in motion. Henry George Lawrence Noy, Government, Inspector of Machinery, said, after an inspection of the machinery, which he had seen previously about four months ago, that it was quite satisfactory. In reply to a question as to whether he had any suggestion to make, the inspector said there would have been no danger if the engine had been stooped before the belt was put on. Evidently O’Carroll was over-anxious about his work, and took the action to save time. He was a most conscientious worker. The jury returned a verdict that deceased died through shock caused by an accident, no blame being attachable to any person.
