BOXING.

ELTHAM ASSOCIATION. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The annual general meeting of the Eltham Boxing Association was hold on Tuesday night. Mr. A. A. Stewart presided. The annual report congratulated members on the comparatively good financial position of the association. The balance sheet showed a loss on operations during the season. The slump had affected the association, as It had done all other kinds of sport. The Taranaki Centre had again offered the Taranaki amateur championship to the Eltham association, and the niatter had been left over for the incoming committee. As mentioned in the report of last year, the professionals seemed inclined to have an inordinate idea of the value of their services as attractions to the public. The main object of local associations still was to advance the amateur side of the sport. The thanks of the association due to the many who donated refreshments, and especially to the ladies, who so energetically worked on behalf of the refreshment committee. The following new members were elected: Messrs. F. I. Tuke, W. H. Anderson, \V. O’Neill. R. Gower, and- R. McMillan. Tlie election of officers resulted: Patron, Mr. G. W. Tavler; president, Mr. H. D. Forsyth: vice-presidents, Messrs. J. B. Dunn, J. Best. F. Casey, Jas. Carlson, F. Cuff, A. A. Stewart, and W. .1. Tristram; committee,\Messrs. Joe’ Carlson, A. Whiting, Nodder (2). H. R. Glgson, J. Cooper, W. H. Anderson, F. I. Tuke, A. F. Cuff, A. Ware, I*. Hawke; secretary and treasurer, Mr. B. G. Tayler; auditor, Mr. H. Dorthover; hon. surgeons, Drs. Cooper, Stringer and Boyd; hon. dentists, Messrs. C. N. Taplin and E. Carter. The secretary’s honariunt was fixed at 20 guineas.
