THE SPORTS GROUND.

MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE. The Xew Plymouth Sports Ground Committee met last night. Present: Messrs. A. L. Humphries (chairman), \V. H. Moyes, G. E. Jago, L. B. Webster, F. C. Ferry, -Tas. Garcia and L. Little (hon. secretary). Apologies were received from Messrs. Jas. McLeod and E. •Jackson. The secretary reported that the committee who controlled the Labor Day sports had looked after the interests of the Sports Ground Committee exceedi ingly well, and had cleaned up the I grounds afterwards in a manner that, was a credit to them. The chairman and ; other members also spoke in appreciai tion. ; Owing to the near approach of the j general election it was decided that the floral fete, which it was proposed to holtt eafly in December, should be deferred until later. The New Plymouth Technical 101lege was granted permission to use the sports ground on Friday, October 27, on j the occasion of the annual sports of ; the school. i The New Plymouth Technical College was granted permission to lay down a practice wicket in the horseshoe bend adjoining the present practice wickets, i-to be used at such times as the town i clubs do not require the ground for practice. I The Rugby League applied for the use of the ground on alternate Saturdays during next football season. It was resolved to reply stating that the question of allotting the ground would be considered early next year in ample time for the commencement of the football season, and that they should submit their application later. A sub-committee consisting of the chairman, Mr. L. B. Webster and the secretary, was set up to draft conditions upon which the grounds will be let on all future occasions. It was decided that cyclists wishing to train on the sports ground would be permitted to do so on obtaining a permit from the secretary and paying a fee of ss.
