With the band and fire brigade queen candidate again at the i -p of the polls the other Mardi Gras committees are increasing their efforts, while the 8.8. committee is equally determined to remain in the lead. The sports committee, whose candidate is again in second position, held another of its popular dances in the Parish Hall last night. Great pains were taken with the decorative scheme in red and black, and all previous efforts were eclipsed. Profusely draped with gay streamers and lighted with many colors, the hall was converted into a fairyland, and the whole effect was beautiful. A confetti dance was greatly enjoyed and the spectacular flare dance was again given. Fox’s orchestra supplied excellent music. The 8.8. dance in the Fire Brigade Hall attracted a fair measure of patronage, and proved a most enjoyable and successful function. The blue and white combination has an irresistible attraction for the many supporters of the popular 8.8. candidate, and those at the head of affairs do their work thoroughly.
The supporters of the MidhirstWharehuia candidate have not been idle. The dance held in the Midhirst Hall last night was well attended and was a most enjoyable affair. The popular country candidate is surrounded by a circle of staunch supporters, who arc determined to be there at the end. BIBLE CLASS RALLY.
