BOWLING.
AUROA CLUB. (From Our Own Correspondent.) On Saturday afternoon, the Auroa bowling green was opened, the large gathering including representatives from Hawera, Manaia and Pi h a ma. Air. Buxton, the president, welcomed the visitors, after which Miss Buxton threw the “jack,” thus declaring the green open for the season. The following are results of the afternoon's play in the Presidents v. Vice-Presidents match: Cowan, Duff. Smith, Johnston (skip) 21, v. Dunn, Hickey, Tremain, Mason (skip) 18. Lambie, Barlow, Duff, senr., Christie (skip) 24, v. Hill, Corry, Davis, Nielson (skip) 30. Sagar, Harrop, McCarty, Mills (skip) 21, v. Robinson, Buxton, Stevenson, McPhillips (skip) 27. The ladies were in attendance, the tea tables being under the management of Mesdames Johnston and McCarty, who, with many helpers, dispensed afternoon tea, which was greatly appreciated. Mr. Hickey, of Manaia, thanked the members of the Auroa Club for such a pleasant game, and also the ladies for their sumptuous repast.
