Fourteen deaths occurred owing to an incendiary fire in a tenement house. Received October 23, 8.35 p.m. New York, Oct. 22. The fire in the tenement house, which was started by a pyromaniac early in the morning, trapped numerous families while asleep. The flames prevented many from escaping. Besides fourteen deaths, there were a score of injured, of whom many will die. Dead bodies were found in the debris, so charred that most of them were unrecognisable.

The entire district is terrorised, due to the fact that this culminates a series of incendiary fires within a month. The. citizens are protesting, and the authorities are endeavoring to capture the pyromaniac.
