WRECK IN A GALE.
ALL THE BOATS LOST. HEROIC RESCUE EFFORTS. ALL HANDS SAVED. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, Oct. 20. The steamer Hopelyn, 2348 tons, belonging to the -Houemount Shipping Company, Newcastle,, has been wrecked off Yarmouth in an easterly gale. The Gorleston lifeboat endeavored to rescue the crew of 25, but all perished. Received October *22, 5.5 p.m. London, Oct. 21. . Only the Hopelyn’s bridge and masts are above water, and all the boats hive gone. A flag i«s hoisted on the chart house, showing that the crew is still alive. The Gorleston lifeboat made repetted heroic efforts to reach them and were three times thrown on the sands. The services of the Lowestoft motor lifeboat were obtained and eventually the whole crew were rescued. The men were terribly exhausted.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
