FATHER AND DAUGHTER DROWNED By Telegraph.—Press Associstion. Auckland, Oct. 21. In connection with the capsize of a finghy and its two occupants, Andrew Gardiner and his daughter Ellen, in the (ifanukau Harbor, the owner of a motorboat states that while his launch was Stranded on a bank a short distance away, he saw the dinghy capsize and saw Gardiner swimming ashore with his arm around his daughter. The sea was rough, and Gardiner, becoming exhausted, lost hold of th? girl. He reached shore and attempted to climb the cliff, but fell back into the water and was drowned. The owner of the motor-boat (Owen McLeod) had no dinghy, and th? distance was too far for him to attempt swimming.
