ARBITRATION BILL.
SOME IMPORTANT CHANGES. (By Wire.—Parliamentary Reporter.) Wellington, Last Night. The Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Amendment Bill has come back from the Labor Bills Committee altered in several respects. The clause compelling all unions to furnish annually to the registrar an audited statement of accounts has been made less sweeping. It now provides merely that the registrar may at any time require a union to submit its accounts to a public auditor if there is reason to believe the accounts have not been properly kept, or any moneys have teen misappropriated.
The committee has struck out the clause which states all awards must contain a provision for the setting up of a disputes committee. A new clause provides that no levy shall be payable by a union member except after a union has, decided by ballot to charge such levy.*
