Humphrey, Broadway, Stratford. Orders for papers may also be left with him. JERSEY BREEDERS’ MEETING. October IS. A meeting of the Stratford Jersey breeders was held at the A. and P. office yes terday, Mr. Geo. Sangster presiding over a full attendance of members. Mr. J. B. Richards read a very interesting paper on “Some Common Difficulties of Dairy Farming,” at the conclusion of which a general discussion and interchange of experiences took place. Mr. Richards was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for his instructive address. Mr. D. O’Sullivan, on behalf of the members, presented Mr. Frank Ranfori with a silver mounted fountain pen Ad a small token of appreciation of Mr. Ranford’s services as a member of the Jersey Breeders’ Council. In returning thanks, Mr. Ranford said it had always been a pleasure to represent the Stratford breeders on the council. Although he was not returned at the last election of member 3 he still had the interests of the breeders at heart, and anything he had done in the past he would continue to do in the future. The meeting decided that the pedigree Jersey yearling class at the forthcoming show would have an additional subsidy of £1 on the first prize and 10s on the second prize. “CHLORIS” The Stratford Musical Society again pro duced the operetta “Chloris” at the Town j Hall last night, and the performance was * worthy of a much larger audience. The operetta is a simple one and the company’s interpretation of it was decided'/ good. The proceeds of last night’s performance were in aid of the school funds. GENERAL ITEMS. The wedding took place at the Methodist Church on Monday, of Mr. J. E Smith, of Hillsborough, and Miss Mona Boyd, of Skinner Road. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. L. B. Neai? Mr. E. Boyd, brother of the bride, was best man and Miss Lily Smith was bridesmaid. Miss Boyd was married on the 25th anniversary of her parents’ wedding, and that evening Mr. and Mrs. Boyd were presented with a silver tea service to mark the occasion.

To-morrow evening the band and fire brigade committee will give their concert in the Town Hall. An excellent programme has been arranged. Amongst those who will appear are Miss Rona Kino, Miss Dolores Wilson and Master Broncho Wilson, of Eltham; Miss Tuke and Messrs. Tunbridge and Lovell, of New’ Plymouth, and Mr. T. H. Chadwick, of Kaponga, while the local artists include Miss Bessie Sheahan, Mrs. Massey and Miss Loi Kivell, also Messrs. Peter Aitken, J. Cran, Bert. Vinsen and the 8.8. entertainers. The Stratford and Avon Bowling Clubs' greens will be opened for play to-morrow (Thursday) afternoon. A danse chantant will be held in the Mangatoki Public H*all to-night, in aid of the A.S.A. candidate in the Mardi Gras carnival. Details are advertised. The residents of Stratford and district are notified that Ernest Davies, the London qualified sight-testing optician, visits Stratford every Tuesday, and may be consulted at Mr. Gaffaney’s, Broadway.
