FIGHTING IN CHINA.
NORTH AND SOUTH CONFLICT. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Oct. 18, 9.20 p.m. Tokio, Oct. 17. It is reported from Amoy, China, that American, British and’ Japanese marines are guarding foreign interests in Foochow The Southern forces completely control the city, while the river is controlled by the navy, whose status in the fighting between the North annd the South has not yet been determined. It is reported that 7003 Northerners surrendered after sustaining 2000 casualties.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
