HOMES OF MENTAL REST. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Lass Night. The Anglican Synod carried a motion urging the establishment of homes of mental rest, where suitable patients could be cared for and be under observation before committal to a mental hospital. A MISSIONARY BUDGET. Dunedin, Oct. 18. At the Baptist Conference the missionary budget was presented and adopted. It showed estimated receipts of £5530 and an expenditure of £5569. BLENHEIM MALT-HOUSE BURNED. Blenheim, Oct. 18. Early this morning a fire partially destroyed Corry’s malt house at Picton, together with a large stock of barley. The insurances are £3OOO on the building and £2OOO on the stock in the Commercial Union. The origin of the fire is unknown. The stock is valued at’ £5OOO and the buildings at £5OOO.
