LAWN TENNIS.
AUSTRALIANS HOME AGAIN. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Sydney, Oct. 18. The Davis Cup team was officially welcomed. Patterson said Tilden and Johnston were too good. If it had not been for them, Australia’s chances of winning were excellent. He urged that efforts should be made to have the Australian championships really representative, and conducted for the present in Sydney and Melbourne. They should try to emulate the United States, where the national championships aroused the utmost enthusiasm. Messrs. Colquhoun and Hicks explained that a sub-committee had already been appointed with the object of making recommendations, which were expected to have the effect suggested by Patterson. O’Hara Wood, manager of the tour, said it was expected to show a profit of £3OOO.
