(lOd per lb.) ; white. 94s to 96s per cwt. (lOd to 10%d per lb.). Shipments of New Zealand produce arrived this week by tho s.s. Port Albany and s.s. Mahana. Stocks New Zealand cheese at Surrey commercial dock on October 13 were 44 crates, against 3795 crates last year WOOL. Sales continued well attended, with competition brisk and good clearance. Fine and medium crossbred now quoted 10 per cent, to 15 per cent, above last closing rates", coarse crossbred, 5 per cent, to ‘i % per cent. CANTERBURY MARKETS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch. Lest Night. The spurt in clovers Is briskly maintained, and there has been some substantial buslneaa, particularly in white clover. Tho agricultural returns just published show that there are only 362,8121b5. of white, compared with 512,4801bs. last year. It is reported that the briskness Is due to an American demand, but It is rather slimiflcant that It should synchronise with the official returns showing a low yield. Up to 200 s per cwt. f ob. sacks In for machine dressed has been paid, and up to 168 s for farmers’ undressed, making values to farmers from la to 13 6d per lb. Red Clover is also In the boom, although values to farmers show little advance, on account of merchants having held stocks, which they are meeting the demand with. It is understood that English inquiry Is the cause of the briskness, and up to 105 s per cwt. for machine dressed has been paid. Oats are firmer, due to home inquiry for A’s and Australian for B’s. Up to 3s f.o.b. sacks In for A’s and 3s l%d for B s has been paid, the equivalent of 2s 7%d and 2s 4%d to farmers. Potatoes are dull, and small lots have pawed at £6 10s f.o.b. sacks in, equal to £5 10s to £5 15s to farmers. The market is In a quiescent state.

LONDON WOOL SALES. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright London, Oct. 16. At the wool sales no greasy merinos were offered. Competition for all crossbreds was keener and more general. Prices were firm at full late rates. Kniapoi lambs clip made up to 24%d and averaged 24d; Parkvale, 23d. Bradford tops market is exceedingly firm nt full rates, but not much business is doing. LONDON METAL PRICES. Received Oct. 17, 9.40 p.m. London, Oct. 16. Copper.—Spot £62 13s 9d; forward, £B3 6s 3d. Lead, £25 10s and £24 8s »d. Spelter. £33 15s and £32 17s 6d.
