THE COAL DISPUTE Received Oct. 17, 9.40 p.m. Sydney, Oct. 17. At the Coal Tribunal, the northern colliery proprietors asked for a day to be set aside for the hearing of an application by them for the cancellation of the award covering the northern mines, stating that for some weeks past many small strikes have occurred, and notwithstanding a promise by the men that ail the northern mines would start to-day, only one resumed working.
